Well, it's about time that someone stood up to Coral. I like her for the fact that she is direct and has no problem vocalizing herself. However, everyone must at some point stop and recognize their faults. She made herself look completely ridiculous when she said that Mike had said/done things to make her not like him but that she had done nothing to him that would make him feel likewise.
Let's be real. We live in a "white" dominated society. The history books used in schools barely touch upon Black History. The only Black icons taught are MLK Jr, Rosa Parks and perhaps Malcolm X. Further, when those people are discussed, they barely skim on their influence in our culture. For MLK Jr, they'll highlight the I have a dream speach. For Rosa Parks, they'll talk about her refusal to sit at the back of the bus. For Malcolm X, Lord knows that the only thing they're going to say is that she was a militant black man who condoned violence. They're not going to teach any in-depth history of any of these people or any others. Most certainly, they're not going to teach about Marcus Garvey, Charles Drew, Ernest Just, Carter G. Woodson, Sojourner Truth.....the list could be endless.
Not only do they not teach white kids this information, but Black kids learn out of the same history books. I went to a private, white, catholic school. Certainly, I did not get this exposure at school. My mother and father, both educated black professionals, instilled this knowledge in me. Not all black children know their history. Most certainly, Mike's parents wouldn't know the history of Black America and they would not have taught it to him.
Coral needs to grow up and get a reality check. It's not Mike's fault that he doesn't know. I also believe that he wants to learn. He was totally open to sitting down with Malik and learning.
Quite frankly, I wouldn't mind breaking it down with Coral to she whether she really knows her history as well.
