It was great. You can tell it's a soccer only facility; as opposed to most American stadiums, the HDC has those mini awnings you see in Euro stadiums, such as Wembley. I didn't get to go into the restaurant that overlooks the field, but from what I can tell, it would be a great place to watch the game. I was right near the midfield line, and even up close I could see the far side real well.

The biggest thing I noticed was how the HDC reflected sound. In a 20,000 seat stadium, maybe only 9,000 were filled, and maybe only 5,000 were going for China. But they were loud. REALLY loud. At one point they were chanting so much I couldn't hear the guy sitting next to me. Ghana played the game before, and their supporters had a 6 piece drum band at one end of the field, and I could hear them quite well on the other side.

My only complaint was that if you went to go to the bathroom or get something to eat, there weren't enough monitors around the concourse to keep track of the game. Other than that, it's probably the best soccer stadium in America (if that means anything), but I have yet to visit Crew Stadium. If I ever have a reason to visit Columbus, I'll be there.
