I know I'm talking like someone whose school was small enough to walk everywhere (which I did) but unless you are a commuter from a different town I don't know why you need a car at college every day.

When I was at USC, back in the dark ages, the university used to have shuttle buses, and even one to Westwood on weekends. Not sure exactly where the pledge house is.
And L.A. is the land of car culture. You need it everywhere. I didn't drive until I was a senior, and things weren't fun for me.
