When your second grade son (who is now 35) has to write a paper about a parent and use at least ten words that he doesn't know how to spell and the teacher calls laughing because she has never seen a list quite like his. It included University, Alabama, sorority and ZETA TAU ALPHA. He difinitely knew what was important to me.
I also overheard the same son in a conversation while I was driving his carpool when he was in kindergarten. Of course, I had a ZTA decal on the car and one of the other children asked him what it meant. He said "Well, it's a club she belonged to in college and she still belongs and, well, she is just a member of ZTA!" At that, another child said "Well, my mother is a member of the PTA!" I almost ran off the road laughing!
