I always tell my students this on the first day of school so that they can appreciate the impact of what they do in high school/college will have on them for the rest of their lives.
When I was in kindergarten, there was a boy in my class that sniffed glue, ate crayons and ate his boogers. His name was David but we all called him Booger Nose David. He always had boogers in his nose to eat. Anyway, I left that school after second grade and never saw David again. Years later, when I was home on break from college I was on the train. Some guy starts calling my name. I turn around and this guy is walking towards me with a big ol kool-ade smile on his face. He's like, "Wow! I haven't seem you in almost 20 years!" I'm looking at him smiling but I still don't recognize his face. So, I'm staring and staring. Then I SHOUT, "OH MY GOD! Booger Nose David!!!" I was sooooooo embarrassed. His smile just deflated. And, he was FINE!! Damn...
My sister and my friends used to call me Rain Drop Head because they said my face is shaped like an upside down rain drop. They still call me that whenever our family gets together. The bigger the crowd, the more they say it to piss me off.
My sister calls me, Sister. It's so funny because when people meet her for the first time they always ask me why she does that. I love that nickname because it's not just her saying it, but how she says it. It reminds me of how attached I was to her growing up. I still am.
Anyway, this is a book...
