I can remember doing the no-carb diet as far back as 1985, and it was not called Atkins. I remember eating beef jerky & drinking diet coke for two weeks. Back then conventional wisdom was that you shouldn't do it for more than two weeks. Times change.
Weight watchers is great also. I know many success stories from this as well. You have to find what works for you. Weight loss is a very individual thing. My doctor doesn't have a problem with any of these methods. Atkins & South Beach doesn't work for everybody, especially some blood types. And Weight Watchers and other groups are not for everyone either.
One thing they do all have in common is a recommended lifestyle change.
