Yeah I agree with you. There's something missing and it's not only due to the fact that there appear new characters all the time. Most of his new books deal a lot with the demons and stuff and how they will partake in contests with the people in Xanth. I'll read them anyway though since he supposedly writes a new Xanth novel every year. It's been a while since I've read anything new.
