I experience the same thing. I think it's jealousy. I'm very friendly and I speak to everybody (I was raised that way). However, everyone is not like that. I did an experiment I wen to a get together at a museum by myself -Gordan Parks and his collection were there. It was very poo poo (Bourgeois) and I was myself you know a smile for everybody. Well my folks were acting all snooty, there weren't a lot of tables, so I chanced it and sat with a white couple and a Black lady. We had the best time -(the couple and I) the sister was kind of like uncomfortable at first. By the end of the evening they had slipped me two business cards and told me to call them if I ever needed a job- I had complained about my current one. The snooty booties were looking at us with longing. The icing on the cake was Gordon Parks winked at me. I know he probably winks at everybody, but that made my day!! Keep being yourself- keep smiling and talking to everybody, because you are secure in yourself!!!
