It doesn't say they're members in the article and seeing as how there were over 300 people there there's a chance they could have just been GDI's.
Texas State-San Marcos changed their name from SW Texas St. effective september 1. It's in an effort to position themselves as a higher class institution in the minds of people in Texas. I've also heard it's to help them as they move to D1 in college athletics.

Don't know what the law's like down there in Texas, but the party's hosts are usually responsible for the actions of their guests -- that's who gets tickets for noise complaints at 2AM up here in Okie (or in your case, I guess I should say "down here"
)
I sincerely hope our guys down there had no part in assaulting police officers. Having met many Texas Sigma Nu's, at regional events, I can say that I couldn't picture any of them being capable of things like that.
