I saw him live, actually opening for Maroon5 last year in Boston. He sort of blew, but apparently his backing band got stuck in a snowstorm so it was just him playing acoustic - maybe that was the problem.
Seemed like a nice dude, though - he came out into the crowd and had a beer after his set was done, and watched the main act.
Anyway - I've checked out the majority of the bands on here that I hadn't heard of and fit my listening style - some good, some were awful, but that's another post.
A couple more from me:
Ben Lee - hard to describe, sort of flits between Jason Mraz-ish and David Gray-ish, but a little more mellow (says kate)
Zero7 - The CD "Simple Things" should appeal to almost everyone's tastes somewhere along the way - atmospheric, somewhat electronic, but also vocal and introspective
C-Rayz Walz - DefJux rap, not much more needs to be said
The Raveonettes - The fact that the White Stripes are millionaires and these guys aren't is ridiculous - "Great Love Sound" might be the best song I've heard in years
and an old favorite -
The Slackers, a 'trad'-ska band from NYC transplanted to Tim Armstrong's Hellcat Records - lyrically amazing, and the reggae- and soul-tinged instrumentals transcend the generally niche-market sound of the genre
