Gee's resume continues!
E. Gordon Gee was, for one brief shining moment, president of Brown University. Most people in academia didn't see how he was selected as president, because he's not an academic (his specialty was educational leadership). He was asked to leave after two years (1998-2000). But the school has a much better president now, and most people were happy to see him go.
