When I was a freshman at UNT (1990) there were more than twice as many fraternities as there are now (that statement is made looking at the recognized fraternities on UNT's website). Very sad

. And as the article states some of the bigger fraternities on campus are no longer there, such as Kappa Alpha and Theta Chi.
But UNT was very stereotypically greek back then. I know hazing was still occuring within some of the fraternities, alcohol abuse, serving minors at parties. Most likely the changes that have taken place in the past 15 years, regarding risk management and liability, has really taken its toll on the greek system at UNT.
