Hazing?

As president of my pledge class in the fall of '54, we had just seen the last of the WWII vets and were receiving a lot of Korean
war vets. Try, just dare, try to haze those boys..I was a green 18
year old Kansan amongst those old timers, and believe you me
we did not haze. Those chapters on campus who did generally
had a poor gpa and poor retention.
Naw, even 'way back then there were several chapters who did
not physically haze. Learning the Greek alphabet, doing pledge
duties, getting ornamental paddles signed...were not cosidered
hazing. How would you like to even TRY to haze an returned marine, 6'4 just back from Heartbreak Ridge? HA...In fact, I think there is likely more hazing today than back in the 50s.
And we took great pride in our table manners, social graces...
There have been a few PhD dissertations on fraternity life, get
ahold of the NIC headquarters, they have a lot of info for you.
Good luck, anyway, we all welcome scholarly activity.
