Hey y'all, the smilies (for those of you who've been getting them from Plauder) aren't working b/c their site has been experiencing technical difficulties...
They also modified the folder in which the smilies are housed...
They moved from
http://plauder-smilies.de to
http://www.plauder-smilies.de/smilies
But now that is down too. Earlier I was able to correct all of my other smilies... but now they're screwed again.
When I checked out the thread about the GC Member you wanna meet and saw my smilies were busted, I checked the site and sure enough the site was busted. Those images are viewable only as long as the site is up and running properly, or so long as the URLs for the images don't change. If you have any questions, e-mail me.
I don't think that the GC Admins have restricted us because the actual smilies don't weigh down the threads much more than normal text would... but the "Powers that be" may
have restricted us. But, as I said, the Plauder site has been screwed up all day. And if any of you are using other sites and they aren't showing up then you may wanna contact the webmaster for the site you're using... But 'til Plauder is back up I am using

Thanks for the site you posted Newbie -- the only thing I noticed about it is that the smilies aren't actually housed on their servers. The images are referenced to other sites that may be down as well. Some of these sites are housed on servers that may or may not have the ability to deal with all of the hits they have been getting lately (largely from us GCers)... Here's another link

You can choose one of several sites there that have smilies too. This site is hosted by Plauder as well so it may not be up for long
