A word for the mods...

For the most part, they do a good job of trying to keep things under control without a lot of tools with which to work.

And, I know that there has been (probably is) some unpleasantness even within their ranks.

Like any system I can think of, this one isn't perfect. But would anarchy be better? Well, maybe sometimes -- but not all the time.

I had a recent instance (just last night, in fact) where a mod was so on top of things that he/she (won't name names) deleted some posts that were really inappropriate -- and my responses to them which might not have been appropriate either. The moderator wrote to me suggesting I take further action -- which I chose not to do because I wasn't all that happy about the way I reacted to the situation. (Although, in retrospect, I'm not sure anything would have changed my mind)

The moderators actions are subjective. I've said before, that all things considered, I think they do a pretty good job.

As to a hierarchy on GC, maybe that's true. There are certainly cliques. So how is that different from the rest of life? Some people simply get along better with certain others.

It ain't perfect, but it also isn't the end of the world.
