I've known a couple autistic folks.
I went to grade school with this kid who could do any math problem you handed him. He could also play any piano piece you put in front of him (at any speed). Really amazing.
My cousin is also autistic. He's fairly high-functioning but probably won't be very self-reliant.
A neat kid though -- loves video games
