What's OK year round:
White shirts of any kind
White tennis shoes
White wedding dresses, initiation dresses, and First Communion dresses

What is not appropriate between Labor Day and Easter:
White shoes
White shorts, pants, skirts

And linen, as a fabric type, is not grouped into this "white confusion" but generally, it follows the same rules as white clothing.
