HBCU Students and Alumni
Greetings HBCU Students and Alumni...
Where do I begin with this story.It was NOT until the end of my junior that a top notch college was a consideration for me.I mean I felt that I could get into any college,if I worked hard for it,but I had to re-focus on my education.One school I had went to took my mind off of my educational goals.The school I am at now and the people I am around have encouraged me to strive for EXCELLENCY.Most of the colleges I had considered were HBCUs,no particular reason,they just were.I was really focused on Washington University here in STL,but when I talked to one of the women at my old job(she attended a HBCU)I saw the beauty of HBCUs.She was telling me that it is nice to be around people like you,same color,same motivations,and same goals.The way she put it was AWESOME,which struck a new interest in my consideration for a HBCU.I do understand that the world is NOT all black,but it is nice to be enriched with your culture during your first experience in college.
*** All in all,I know that I MUST do what is BEST for ME
My questions to you all are:
- Why did you choose a HBCU?
- Which HBCU did you choose? Why?
- What are the GOOD and BAD advantages of attending a HBCU?
- What advice would you give to anyone seeking admission into
a HBCU?
