I don't really care about other people's houses or cars... I do admit I'd probably take note of a well dressed guy at the bar rather than a guy in an old t-shirt/sweatshirt... I'd think that the guy who's put together well cares about his appearance. However, clothes aren't always good indicators... one of my guy friends once wore a hooded sweatshirt to the bar and all my friends still thought he's the hottest guy in the world... so they weren't really thinking he didn't care about his appearance because he still had girls fawning over him.
If someone had a nice car, house, and clothes, I don't automatically think they have a snobby personality. Concerning background, I may think that they come from a family who's well off or they themselves have jobs that pay well. Some of my friends are spoiled by their parents and some work a lot for their nice things.
