Is it too much to ask to simply PM the new members with your wishes of "Good Luck" or "Congratulations," if the message is limited to that? Sometimes it really blows hard to have to wade through a lot of "You'll definately (mispelling intended) do well. Good luck!," when all you want to read is how the PNM feels about Recruitment.

Another, underused, option for subscribing to threads without posting is to scroll down waaay to the bottom of the page and click on "subscribe to this thread". That way you can subscribe without actually posting... I admit that I am guilty of not doing this myself, but oh well, I will try to remember!
