LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Eddie Murphy (news) could be set to reprise his role as a harried dad in "Daddy Day Camp," a sequel to his summer hit "Daddy Day Care."

While no deal is yet in place for the actor, the film's producer, Revolution Studios, has hired "Toy Story" scribes Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow to write a script. In the sequel, Murphy's character would be put in charge of a summer day camp.

Originally set up at 20th Century Fox, "Daddy Day Care" was picked up in turnaround by Revolution, which is based at Sony. It grossed $101 million domestically, a return to form for Murphy after he last year starred in three flops -- "I Spy," "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" and "Showtime."

"'Daddy Day Care' was a good idea, a great title and showed Eddie's track record with family movies such as 'Dr. Dolittle,' 'The Nutty Professor' and 'Shrek,"' Revolution founder Joe Roth said.

All three films have spawned sequels -- "Dr. Dolittle 2," "Nutty Professor II: The Klumps" and the summer 2004 release "Shrek 2."
