Have you read the Seabiscuit book? The first several chapters have nothing to do with the actual horse--they're just setting the scene, so to speak, by telling about the lives of the owner, trainer, and jockey. The Seabiscuit movie wasn't the best I've ever seen, but I think it did a really good job highlighting the main points and still including all the relevant info. (At least it was better than the first one, that corny thing with Shirley Temple in it...) The only thing that bothered me was Hollywood obviously wanted us to like Red Pollard more than George Woolf, so they cast a cuter actor to play him even though the real Woolf was incredibly hot and Red, um, wasn't exactly. But that's OK, I guess...Tobey McGuire looks
really good with red hair.
