I have good news!
No- I am not rushing this fall- havent changed my mind about that BUT I did decide to rush in the spring for informal rush. I was a little dissapointed because I didnt think I stood a chance rushing the same semester that I will be graduating, but.....last night I talked to the president of a sorority here at UH. I had talked to her before she became president, and she made me feel really comfortable and was going out of her way to help me meet the girls. Anyway- i explained my situation to her and this is what she said:
She said I should rush right now in the fall just to experience more and be with the sisters more- but she understands and is proud of my decision. Seniors rushing that will be graduating that same semester is something that she says has happened, and they have gotten bids because the greek life at our school is not big, and they encourage girls to rush no matter what classification they are! She did say that the first semester is really expensive and I wont get too much experience but I should definitely go for it if it is something that I really want. Recommendations are still needed for rush- so getting my personal recs would be awesome. She gave me her email address and said to email her whenever i want to either meet the girls or just have a question. She also said she would give me the events they have to meet them and hang out, or the parties that they guys will be throwing so I could attend. I told her I would definitely email her atleast by January to find out the rush events. Since it will be informal rush- they will just be having activities where the prospective girls can attend. In a way- I am kind of leaning towards her sorority because she is really the only active member of a sorority at UH that has been that informative and expressing such a big interest in me!! I am not going to be biased though- and will try to attend atleast one of every sorority activity that participates in informal rush. I heard that most sororities do participate in informal rush since filling quota here is tough due to not being a big interest in greek life. OH- and she said her sorority requires to initiate their new members after 7-8 weeks of pledging- so I would already be initiated before graduating. If this all works out- I do plan on being an active alumnae!

I had to go to school today to buy some books for the fall and I did some wandering to look for the greek row they are building. I saw Bayou Oaks I think it was- I dont know if that is where they are going to be but those look like apartments. If they are those, I am wondering if it is only for sororities and fraternities because they look big. I also got to see the Sigma Nu house which is basically in front of Bayou Oaks.

Well- I was very happy to hear that there is still hope for me!! If this was the end for me, I would definitely look for A.I., but I want some type of collegiate experience, even if it is for only a semester!

Hopefully I will be able to start my REAL rush thread in January!!
