I went through informal recruitment for the second time as a last semester senior. It's a long story, but I had been to recruitment before and gotten a bid. Unfortunately my mom died and I had to decline my bid. So, after a couple years, I decided to give it one last go with one of the sororities on campus.

I'm sorry to report that I did not receive a bid. The officers who took me aside specifically stated that they liked me but didn't want to give me a bid because I was in my last semester. They said they would feel bad for me having to pay so much money only to be active for a few weeks.

I know this might sound stupid- but you have to do alumni initiation after you already graduated right? I am asking because I know that actives can go alumna during their senior year- but my situation is different. If informal rush doesnt work out for me- whether I rush or not- am I eligible for alumni initiation if I havent ever been through a rush process in college?

After not being able to join a sorority, I inquired of that same national group. The national alumnae coordinator advised me that, in order to qualify for alumnae initiation, I would have to be ineligible to join a collegiate group. Since I was still in college, that mean that, techncally, I could still join a sorority. So, she said that she would send me some material in the mail to read. Then, after I graduated in a few month's time, I should contact the local alum association.
