Gen. Powell, to me, seems like a dying breed -- a basically moderate Republican in the mold of Sen. Edward Brooke of Massachussetts and Nelson Rockefeller.
I read somewhere a quote from Peter King, a Staten Island GOP congressman, who lashed out at Gorgie Dubya Boosh and Co., Newt Gingrich, etc., saying that they made the Repubs into a "backward, backwoods party."
Well, what do you expect if you continue to venerate folx like Jesse Helms.
