Do it! I know whenever I'm wearing letters at the mall or somebody notices my lavalier, I get excited when they comment.
My mom wore her Gamma Phi Beta Mom polo shirt while on a business trip and it turned out two of the people at the office she was visiting were Greek - a SigEp and a Pi Phi. She thought it was really cool.
