I think it might have been the wording. You have to be careful. People automaticly say no to mass mail, junk mail. But they might not realize what they are not getting. Mass mailings could mean anything. And from a marketing point of view, doesn't sound like something you would want.
Edited to add that I crave information from my collegiate chapter and my alum chapter.
