I feel your pain. I've been working on the same darn x-stitch for over a year now. I think it's 14"x15" - it's the cat-on-a-bookshelf one I described earlier in this thread. Lesson learned: NEVER stitch on black aida cloth.
BetaRose, knitting is not hard to learn at all. I find crochet much more difficult... I've tried it and let's just say the results weren't pretty.
