The Woodland Violet is hard to find because of companies such as Trugreen and Chemlawn! They're frowned upon in most suburban lawns.

My lawn, however, is liberally sprinkled with said violets, and do I have to tell y'all that I encourage them? I have one old stone wall that the violets "peek" through, and I just love how it looks. I have been known to make Violet Ice Cubes for special occasions - yes, they're edible! Somewhere (either in an old Southern Living or the ADPi Cookbook) I have a recipe for Violet Jelly!
