We have many superstitions here in Hawaii, a lot of em don't make any sense.
*Don't whistle at night...you'll attract the spirits.
*Clipping your finger/toe nails at night is bad luck.
*You should never ever point to something at a cemetery...that's considered bad luck too. If you accidentaly do, bite your finger.
*We have a highway where one should never ever have PORK in their car when traveling on it. People say that PORK is the food of the gods, and the highway cuts through land where PORK is taboo. It sounds weird, I know, but people who have tested that superstition have actually had their cars break down on the highway.
*If a child bends over and looks between his/her legs, a sibling is usually on the way and mommy will soon be pregnant.
And my favorite one:
*When a woman is on her "monthly", she needs to protect her head from rain or else she'll get white hairs early.
Funny, I know...but my mom totally believes in each one of those I've listed. I find myself believing in them too sometimes.
