I was a Pi Chi last year. It was probably the best recruitment I have participated in thus far. I got to be so close with the other sister from my chapter that was picked, as well as with a Tri Delt, whom I still talk to! (She even got me a job, and I'm about to have my one year anniversary there in August!)
I had so much fun all summer, hanging out with people in other sororities. When rush started, we all got to stay in a hotel. Starting on Info night, I had 18 wonderful girls. I was taking role once we got into groups and saw Taniya W. I got this awful feeling in the pit of my stomach. I had preffed her the year before. She had gotten a bid from another sorority, and had dropped it on bid day. Now she was rushing again, and she miraculously ended up in my group. Great

I figured she would probably hate me and tell every girl in my group what sorority I was in. I called her later that night, and she was so cool with it. She's like "I would never tell anyone." And she promised she had no hard feelings against me. Very cool girl.
I called my group the Beauty Queens and I made them all sashes and wrote "Miss Alpha" or "Miss (any other greek letter)." They were so cute all week. I had one girl drop due to financial reasons, and then one got dropped right before Prefs due to a GPA problem (she later joined in COB because her GPA changed from transfer credits). Then one decided after Prefs that she did not want to sign her bid card.
On the night of Pref Day we all went to dinner at the same restaurant that I had went to after my Pref Day with my Rho Chi group. One of the other Pi Chis took her group to that restaurant too, because we had both been in the same Rho Chi group when we went through rush. So it was really cute.
On bid day, I got them all flowers, and enclosed little note cards. The girls really suprised me when they gave me a candy jar they decorated with "Pi Chi Group 13" and "Beauty Queens" along with a gift certificate to get a manicure and pedicure. They also gave me a sweet thank you card that they had all signed. One girl, Shannon, wrote me a card saying that if she ever becomes a Pi Chi, she would take her group to the same restaurant too.
Then I got to hand out bid cards. I quickly looked through them, and could tell which sororities was which. I saw that 3 of my girls were in KD! Michele B. (who I knew wanted KD ALL week), Shannon W. (who I knew wanted KD on Prefs) and Taniya! I was so excited she was finally going to be my sister, because I had cried the year before when she didn't come through our doors. Sadly my rush crush in my group did not go KD, but I was proccupied trying to console a triple legacy to ABC that had gotten a bid from DEF. She would not accept the bid under any circumstances, even after I tried to get the Panhellenic President to talk to her. I felt so bad for this girl.
The best part of bid day though was going back to my sorority. I received a paddle from my little, and also enjoyed wearing my revealing letters ALL DAY LONG!
Being a Pi Chi was a tough, but really fun experience. An emergency kit is key, I would add safety pins, a small sewing kit, lint brush, candy for little pick me ups, a mirror, clear nail polish, and a nail file to the list.
P-I C-H-I
Pi Chi, Pi Chi til we die!
We're the best,
We never rest,
Til our new girls find their nest!
Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii Chi!
