The big thing at our school was a grandmother or a mother (or both!) bringing their high school senior to the Chapter, along with a lunch. I'm sure that would be dirty pool now, but wasn't a bit unusual at the time.
"Hi, I'm in town with my daughter. We're going to stop over aorund noon and bring some (fried chicken, pizza, whatever). About how many sisters will be there?"
