I think it all depends on where you go to school. I live and go to school in NJ where greek life isn't a big deal at all. When I rushed (informal - we don't even have formal at my school), some of the sisters were wearing sweatpants and sweatshirts. Some were dressed up, but most were just wearing t-shirts and jeans. It was very laid back and made me feel right at home.
