Maybe its just an AOII thing!
I was an AOII at Georgia Southern University (we're talking SOUTH Georgia) and we wore black dresses, black hose and black closed toed shoes. As far as I know, they still do. Its very classy looking, and like you said, its indoors. As for the PNMs, I don't think its as big of a deal. Like someone said earlier, sometimes its better to ditch the black and wear something that stands out more.
