i was the first person in my family to go greek and it was a bit of a fight. first of all my parents have 7 children and im the second youngest. i only have one sister who is older than me and 5 brothers. of course im the non-traditional one so my parents weren't all that surprised when they found out i wanted to rush but they were very surprised when i actually went through with it. it didnt really help that i was part of the founding chapter of sdt on my campus. my parents, however would always support me no matter what. i think that they dont actually approve of me being in a sorority, but they would never tell me. plus, they are starting to meet a lot more of my sisters and realizing that these are the most amazing women in the world. also, this past semester, i almost dropped out of school, but my sisters rallied around me and convinced me that i was just giving up on myself and letting something that happen ruin my life when i should turn it around and make me stronger so i know that my mom especially appreciates my sisters a million times more now for what they did for me.
as far as paying dues....my parents dont pay my tuition....of course they dont pay my dues. its my decision to do this so i should be paying for it. and no matter how expensive it gets...its always worth it because my sisters are the greatest people in the world to me!
