It is competitive, but don't let that be your focus. If she worries about it too much, her week will be misrable. Let me tell you something about Mississippi in general, we are definitly one of the poorest states, so the people who do have money here think they are Donald Trump. Most of these people go to Ole Miss.
It's not so much that rush at Ole Miss is competitive, it is just the people that go through it make it that way. So really, the ball is in her playing field on how competitive she wants to make it. The people going through rush with her will set that standard. It's just most girls who go to Ole Miss know exactly what sorority they want to be in, so if they don't get that one they get crushed and then rush just becomes "cut throat." As cliche as it sounds, just tell her to go in with an open mind. THe girls with the narrow mind who only want that one sorority are usually the ones who end up bitter at the end of the week.
A lot of the girls I graduated with went to Ole Miss. Most of them went KD, and then one went KAT and another DG. I have grown up with these girls, and they are pretty - but they are pretty normal. They don't wear guchi and drive mercedes - they wear jeans and t-shirts and drive hondas and toyotas. Rush is really what you make it of it - and it is only competitive if you are going for one particular thing. Just let fate lead you through the week and it will work it's magic to put you were you belong at the end of it.
Tell her Good Luck!!
