AMelie--you're right, you may not get invited back to Kappa. But, you just MAY get invited back to Kappa every day! Please, I beg you, try not to stress over things like that!
You are so right when you say it's
your decision. Recruitment is designed as a mutual selection process--mutual meaning you choose AND each sorority chooses. You may discover that Kappa fits into your life beautifully, which would be great. You may discover that AOII or Gamma Phi or Pi Phi are better fits for you--and that's okay. It looks like you have 14-15 sororities to choose from at Nebraska! I'm sure that no matter which sorority you choose to join, your friends will be thrilled for you!
I think it's just great that you know so many Kappa women who think so highly of their sorority and are so excited to think you could share in their experiences. Do you know if Nebraska uses or requires recs? If so, perhaps one of the Kappa moms would be willing to write you a rec?
Expect the best from your recruitment experience, AMelie! Recruitment is a lot of fun, it's a great way to make new friends and learn about your school, and hopefully find a lifetime of sisterhood. Seriously, even though it sounds corny, be the
best AMelie you can be! Keep your options open, because so many times the sorority you think you want the most on day 1 just might not be the sorority you want to call
home on Bid Day!
If you've got any questions about *anything* recruitment related, ask away. Get your application in (if there's a place on it to mention extracurriculars, community service experience and academic honors, make sure to include those!) Besides that, just make sure your clothes and shoes are clean and in good repair, be excited and ready to have fun during recruitment! Good luck!
