Hi Ladies, hope you don't mind me posting

Nikki,
I bought my first car a couple of years ago. I concentrated so much on getting my payments where I wanted them, that I neglected a couple of things. Of course, which I discovered later.

1) Don't accept their first payment offer. I had my dad with me, but I did all of the talking. I was going to walk out three times, but the guy kept crunching numbers to get the payments where I wanted them. Be firm, let them know that you are about business and you know what you're talking about (even if you don't ) Dealers tend to take advantage or belittle women.

2) Shop around for financing. Get the dealer's rate, then go to your bank or credit union. Sometimes they'll tell you the dealer's is too high for that car.

3)Watch for demo cars. I got one and they cut me a deal because it had a "few" miles on it, but that doesn't extend the warranty. So be careful on that.

4)Good luck!
