Now does that mean that all of the North is that way? No. This has just been my experience.

Just because it's segregated doesn't mean you don't have diversity. Boston is a very segregated city, but you alot of different types of people. Washington DC is also very segregated, but again, lots of different flavors.
Now my home sweet home NEW YORK CITY is segregated in some areas and not in others, but NYC has diversity like no other place I know of.
