"The Brothers" is a very good flick. It is like a "Waiting to Exhale" for African American men but in a testosterone way... I found it rather interesting that the characters in this movie who were nearing 30 felt compelled to gain and maintain a relationship with a woman. It was interesting to observe the relationship issue from a Black men's perspectives.
The flip side where I think the moviemakers could have done better was it hard for me to keep track of the numerous plots in this movie. I understood that each man had his own separate issues with women, but the finale of the plots were never followed through, I guess so that they could make another movie... Moreover, the moviemakers could not expand on a specific issue because there were too many plots. IMO, there was one they could have explored more deeply, but could not because it would take too much time from a 1.5-2 hour movie.
Other than that, I'd say one should see it durning a Saturday matinee. I might pay the $10 to see it, but I would try to get a discount. IMHO, this movie is not a Friday night date movie. I could see were some men would find these characters portrayed by these actors rather, well, ummm, "punkish"... But most definitely see it with your girls if you can.
This movie is more of chick flick. Not very much action--no Wesley Snipes, "Blade" moves goin' on... Oh, and make sure the movie houses do not F up the film. A very reputable theater had the film burn at the very end of the movie so the folks prior to us watching it missed the ending... Hmmmm. Wonder why it had to happen to "The Brothers" rather than "Hannibal"???
And finally, I can definitely tell you this, there was no waste in "goooddddd equipment", if you catch my drift...
Anyhow, I hope you see it soon!
