One of my sisters was in a local sorority and dropped before she initiated because she was hazed so badly. This was a while ago, so I don't know if the sorority still does it, but she said they each had to carry a live goldfish with them 24/7, whether it was to class, to a bar, in their car, etc. They also had to carry a brick wrapped like a present in their backpacks. During Hell Week, they had to wear bells on their shoelaces so sisters could hear them coming.
They had a point system in the form of a matchbook. If they did anything wrong, a matchstick was taken away. If all their matches were taken, they were forced to depledge. They were also woken up at 3am one night and forced to wear robes, slippers, and curlers in their hair. Then, they drove around doing chinese fire drills.
Another sorority made thier pledges wear a ponytail for everything they did wrong. Imagine seeing a girl with five or six ponytails walking through the quad. Why some girls put up with this is beyond me...
