The most disturbing part of the whole Strom discussion (among others) in chit chat is that the ideas in the forum represent a microcosm of our society at large. It's spelled out, with no room for misunderstanding, how our "peers" really feel about race relations in this country. While some are educated, open minded, enlightened people (i.e., sugar and spice and Cloud9) others are still racist, hateful, and hold onto archaic beliefs that have been passed down from generation to generation (i.e., LOL, I won't call them out on here, but you know who they are). So, whenever I start getting complacent, believing that things have really changed in this country, I march directly over to chit chat/greek life and I'm knocked right back into the reality of the race issues that are stil festering. But like my daddy always tells me, "Keep your enemies where you can see them." I'm glad they put it out there for the world to see.
