I was, and still am, an Iota Sweetheart. I agree that there are inconsistencies from chapter to chapter, but from my experience as a Delta, there are also inconsistencies in our sorority from chapter to chapter as well. I admit, I love being a Delta, I love the sisterhood, I love my sands. I love Delta and all our sorority stands for. It enhanced me, not made me. But being in an auxillary group also gave me sisters, and a companionship with the Iotas. I can't speak for other groups, but we are called Iota Sweethearts everywhere. I don't step at parties as a sweetheartm because I see the disrespect, and we do not call each other soror in the auxillary group because we are not sorors. We are recognized nationally through the fratenity, and recieve certificates upon initiation. We also have workshops at the Iota's conclave, and open invitations to their regionals. We are sisters to them because they were founded so late they don't have a sister sorority. We are thier sisters. We do planning, we do community service, we do fundraisers. I don't know about other chapters' auxillary groups, burt we do fundraising and have meetings, and such, similar to sororities. The reason I'm still active as a heart is because when I needed help, before my sands were there, the bruhs(Iotas) were there. After my sands were here, my bruhs were still there. I'm not going to give up on my auxillary group and leave behind friendships, memories, and brothers. They are a part of my life just as Delta is.

I know some girls who give up on their auxillary groups when joining a sorority, which I would advise if all you do is party and have fun with the fratenity you are affiliated with. I know some sorors and other sorority members who are more active in their auxillary groups because there's more community activities and such to be done than in their sorority chapter, unfortunately. Some, like me, are tied to both. Like being a friend and sister, or a student and leader, they are both different parts of me. They both enhance mylife. I can't speak for others, but only for myself...
I guess my biggest question is how did/do you find the time to do both? With Rho Xi being a relatively young chapter, it seems it would have consumed all of your time. No intent to offend, I'm just curious.
