Delt, yup, pretty much. The party of Jefferson, the Anti-Federalists, became Democratic-Republicans, that led to the Democratic party of Andrew Jackson. Whigs became Republicans. Abraham Lincoln started his political career as an adherent of the Whig Party and as all of us know, he ended up a Republican like most of his Whig brethren.
