I'm just a SF, and although I do appreciate the answers and advice that come forth from this board, I had to get over my fear of approaching members. Things vary from chapter to chapter, and the only way to get *accurate* answers is to ask members. I promise they won't bite... in most cases.
I've made some really good friends, and always found the answers I was looking for... just remember that *nobody* can tell you better about what your chapter does than somebody from that chapter... good luck, SFs!
