I don't see small hijacks and posts mildly deviating from the OT as a problem. Hypothetical-but if the thread is about relationships and someone suddenly posts about cars and the thread goes on about cars several pages long, that is just disrespectful-to the original thread starter and the people who want to discuss the original topic. All of us has done it time to time, but there are some guilty people who do this ALL the time and I seriously think this is done on purpose.

I don't disagree with you or anything, but I wanted to point out that in MANY forums it happens ALL the time, and no one seems to care. But that's what makes threads ridiculously long too.Yes, it's annoying, but I fail to understand why it gets people so worked up? Or maybe I just haven't seen the posts that you're referring to?
