Alaina-
Good for you, for doing some research before jumping in! What I have to say might sound cliche-but it's true. Being in a sorority is what you make of it-it's up to you to decide how much time you want to put into it.
There will be events that are required, and things you won't want to miss...at times (like recruitment), it will feel like your entire life revolves around sorority life, but in the end, it is all worth it (at least I thought it was). Being Greek can make your college experience that much more enjoyable--you will have more vivid memories of football games, finals, etc., because you shared them with your sisters.
Anyone who tells you it isn't time consuming is lying, but it doesn't have to rule you. I worked a part time job, was involved in student government & my professional organization, choir and was the school mascot. Ended up serving as secretary, VP of Recruitment and President of my chapter...it was all in all a very rewarding experience...and yes, I felt at times like DZ was my sole purpose for existing! But I loved virtually every minute of it.
Good luck to you!
