Hollywood country is more like it.. Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline were considered Nashville country back in the day, but now they're classified as "Americana" artists. Sacrilege! Thank goodness for KPIG radio online - otherwise I'd never get to hear this kind of stuff. Thanks for the tip about the other artists!

If you want some country with a twist, try to find something by Robert Randolph and the Family Band. They're the backing band for the Five Blind Boys of Alabama, and this guy.. I swear, he's the Jimi Hendrix of the pedal steel! They take tradiational gospel/blues/country and make it into something that you've never heard before.
