I also joined as an upperclassman. I transfered schools and had planned on joining a sorority my first year on campus. In fact, a RA in my dorm talked to me about her sorority (at that time they were all local) and I was really interested. Unfortunately, I let other people influence me and decided to wait and go through formal recruitment. When it came time for formal recruitment, I had so much going on and felt a little intimidated being older than the other girls so I decided not to rush. I was talking with a few friends of mine who had also transfered schools and we all were saying we wished we had joined a sorority. The next day I ran into my old RA and talked her about that conversation. She was so excited and invited us all to a COR event. We went and all had a great time. We were excited to get bids together to the local sorority Delta Chi Epsilon. We also had the privledge of joining at a time when all the locals were considering national organizations. We got to listen to all the sororities and met with a few that we had selected to consider for our sorority. It was kind of like rushing the national GLOs. It was a lot of fun and (in looking back) a great honor. I am very excited to have been a part of it. While I wish I would have joined the Sorority earlier, I am very glad I eventually joined. After all, it is never to late to find the bonds of sisterhood!
