I just saw "Nine" a few weeks ago and I absolutely agree about Banderas, his performance was electric. I believed him at every moment. Seeing Chita Rivera perform is just fantastic, I can't think of anyone who could have done her scene better. I wasn't too in love with Mary Stuart Masterson's performance, I thought she was a bit mannered, but her voice is strong. Overall I loved the show.
I've also seen "A Day in the Death of Joe Egg" recently which was funny and dark and disturbing. Eddie Izzard is in it and I love his standup, so seeing him in this role was terrific. I recommend it for a serious night of theatre, it's definitely not light fare.
The worst thing I've seen in a while has to be "The Look of Love" which is a musical revue of Burt Bacharach and Hal David songs. I like some of those songs like "Walk on By" and "Wishin and Hopin" but the show turned them into a two hour American Idol medley, but without the excitment of the competition. It was a painful two hours.
I love Broadway, it's so good to be able to find other GCers who are also similarily obsessed.
